Gravenhurst

Spring Hill is a mixed development of 24 units, off Barton Road in the village of Gravenhurst, Bedfordshire.

Our Client in conjunction with the local Housing association constructed 3,4 and 5 bedroom detached private houses along with terraced and semi-detached social housing within this development.

Spring Hill is on the site of an old orchard within the village and had a considerable cross fall.

To level the site for construction, a sheet piled retaining wall was installed at the highest part of the site.

Sleeper retaining walls and stepped gardens were utilised on the lower side of the site and a cut and fill operation was carried out to create a plateau on which the road and houses were constructed.

GKL also constructed the access road to adoptable standard, the Foul water drainage system and the surface water SUDS drainage infrastructure which included multiple attenuation tanks within the road corridor.

Permeable block paving was installed on driveways and a shared cul-de-sac and GKL also installed the hard landscaping of paths, patios for each property.
