Thursday 10th October 2013 saw GKL Group (@GKLGroup) take delivery of the first Komatsu D61 PXI-23 bulldozer in the UK on a week’s demonstration. This ‘state of the art’ piece of machinery is the first of its kind in the Britain and is the first machine in the market to come with a fully factory installed 3D GNSS machine control system.
Although fully automated machine control is not a new concept in the UK construction sector the new factory fitted install is at the present time a unique offering.
One of the main features of the D61 PXi-23 is that it is able to utilise fully automatic dozing from start to finish from rough grading to final precision trimming. This all combines to provide a machine which delivers increased efficiency, increased productivity and greater fuel efficiency.

James Brackenbury, Director of GKL Group says:
“We are extremely pleased to be working with Komatsu and it was great to be the first civil engineering company in the UK to trial this machine on a ‘live’ site. The benefits of the D61 PXi-23 were clear for all to see and as always GKL as a company are keen to embrace any new technology and advancements to construction equipment. From being the first UK construction company to have indicate only GPS systems on dozers some 12 years ago it is evident that as a company GKL are still all about innovation and finding better ways to work smart in what is still a very competitive market. Specialist plant and machinery like the D61 PXi-23 influences the whole construction sector and GKL Group is all about innovation. We are pleased to have worked with Komatsu on this trial”.
