Stanway

The Western Bypass which is c.1.3km in length will reduce local congestion by linking the A12 with Warren Lane via the Tollgate Retail Centre. To facilitate the new road the former quarry is being completely recontoured with approximately 500,000 m3 of material being excavated and placed to form the new development platform of the Stanway Development. A large quantity of this material is being sourced from underneath Church Lane. Church Lane will eventually be reopened along a new alignment and will cross the bypass over a newly constructed 30m span bridge which forms part of the contract.
