AAVS Warehouse, Litlington

Our most recent feat of engineering is the construction of a steel warehouse with mezzanine floor and office spaces in Litlington, near Royston. This consisted of the excavation and levelling of the site with Type 2 hardcore and a sand blinding layer. Once the perimeter was insulated we placed the polythene DPM and then a layer of mesh reinforcement. We then had concrete poured, with a superplasticiser, to an S4 consistency to form the floor slab. This was done over two days in two pours of around 6 hours to complete to 240m³ floor slab. It was then floated into the small hours of the morning to create a warehouse base to be proud of! The junction from the main highway of Bassingbourn Road will be widened to allow for two-way traffic, eliminating the current one way system around the site.
